Program Specialist Gustavo Vasquez briefed the commission on expanded programming at Susan Rubio Socalo Park, summarizing a suite of family‑oriented arts and crafts activities and a live‑music series called Twilight Tunes.
Vasquez said the DIY arts series began with about 13–20 participants and now draws more than 55 attendees per month. He described rotating monthly themes and showed photos of events, including pumpkin‑carving activities and other seasonal projects.
On the live‑music front, Vasquez said Twilight Tunes — a second‑and‑fourth‑week concert series — has showcased a range of local performers and that recent concerts have attracted hundreds of attendees. "Since launching this series, we've welcomed more than 600" people across the last two concerts, he said.
Commissioners commended staff for increasing park programming and noted the growth in activity since the park’s early days. Vasquez asked commissioners to extend thanks to park staff for creative programming that boosted attendance and community engagement.
