The Board of Public Works and Safety voted to approve the city’s stormwater technical manual, a detailed companion document to updated stormwater ordinances that establishes engineering procedures for developers and staff.
Jerry Jackson and Tucker King explained the manual’s role: it standardizes calculations for storage, pipe sizing and how to account for offsite flows through new subdivisions. Staff said the manual is intended to be a practical reference for plan reviewers and developers; because it contains technical specifics rather than policy language, the board approved it as an administratively controlled document that can be amended as field needs arise.
Devin Hunsberger, who worked on the manual, was acknowledged for her role. The board approved the manual by voice vote and asked staff to return with any proposed changes as they appear necessary for clarity or to address new project types.
The manual is not an ordinance; it is a technical standard used to implement the city’s stormwater rules.
