The Downtown Improvement District approved a final concept for a Downtown Discover map and received an update on Black Friday marketing and merchant participation.
Map approval: staff presented an 11-by-17 tear-off map modeled on Delray Beach's layout that highlights Main Street, Palm Avenue, parking and trolley stops. Board members suggested adding State Street, the Mark building and prominent waterfront references, and asked staff to pursue distribution at hotels, rental car desks, the airport and Marina Jack. The board moved, seconded and unanimously approved the map concept and directed staff to return with exact printing costs.
Black Friday and merchant outreach: Travis Cornwell, senior client experience and development manager with NexMark, said 26 merchants have officially signed up to share deals, logos and hours. NexMark is scheduling social posts, planning influencer outreach and working to finalize the printed guide and promotional bags. Cornwell said the campaign was coordinating with the Chamber and that print and permit deadlines are imminent.
Why it matters: the map and the Black Friday campaign are part of the district's effort to drive foot traffic downtown, provide clear wayfinding for visitors and support merchants during the holiday shopping period.
What happens next: staff will return with printing costs for the map and continue merchant outreach and production work for Black Friday.
