On Nov. 3 the Hampton County Council approved second reading of an ordinance to adopt a revised schedule of rates and charges for Hampton County Airport hangars and to approve a standard hangar license-use agreement. The county said the change followed a consultant's hangar-rate study and Airport Commission review.

Chris (airport staff/consultant) told the council the change includes a modest increase (for example, an illustrative increase from $2.75 to $2.85 in a cited rate) and an automatic annual adjustment clause. Staff said the airport has not raised fees in recent years and that planned improvements'including lights and an instrument approach'would support the airport's competitiveness and justify the updated rates.

The ordinance completed second reading at the Nov. 3 meeting; the public hearing and third reading were scheduled for Nov. 17. Council approved the second reading; the transcript does not include a roll-call tally in the public record.

Airport staff and the consultant thanked departing staff for service and noted ongoing work to secure improvements that would support hangar tenants and economic-development goals.
