Technology staff presented the district’s planned device-replacement cadence: replacement of 4,000 Chromebooks and 1,200 iPads as part of a five-year replacement cycle and additional administrative device replacements.

Lindsay (Technology) said the summer inventory is ongoing and official numbers will be available after completion before Thanksgiving, but preliminary counts show approximately 500 devices unreturned or out of service — consistent with historical loss rates of 500–600 devices per year (roughly 1.5–2 percent of the inventory). Staff said losses include devices damaged, stolen or otherwise removed from circulation.

Staff explained efforts to reduce repair turnaround and improve distribution, including in-summer repair clinics at the Pat May Center and process improvements to keep devices tied to the same student where practical. Technology leadership said an evaluation of replacement cycles and loss-prevention practices is on the improvement agenda and will be discussed with principals in January.
