The Streator City Council approved ordinances to purchase three tax-sale properties from the LaSalle County trustee and separately authorized the sale of 1418 North Sterling Street to Maria I. Flores.

Staff told the council buying the properties (1203 South Bloomington Street; 605 Ralph Blum Street; 412 Colorado Avenue) from the county trustee clears title and reduces future legal and maintenance costs. Council members noted at least one parcel has utility easements that make ownership advantageous.

The sale of 1418 North Sterling Street to Maria I. Flores combined two parcel identification numbers under one transaction; council members said the city has encouraged neighbors to acquire lots and maintain them. Each ordinance and the sale were approved by roll call.
