Polk County commissioners approved Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) Addendum #3 to the county’s existing Construction Manager at Risk agreement with Wharton Smith for the Northeast Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility expansion project.

The addendum covers construction of headworks components, return pump stations, Electrical Building No. 3 and related site work; the amount presented to the board was a proposed guaranteed maximum price not to exceed $50,825,822. The work under GMP Addendum #3 carries a contract time of 758 calendar days. Earlier phases (GMP Addendum #1 and #2) were previously approved by the board to expand the plant from a 6 million gallon per day (MGD) facility toward an anticipated 9 MGD build‑out; staff said the site has capacity planned for a future ultimate of 12 MGD if needed.

Funding: Staff said continued funding for the plant expansion is available in the Utilities Community Investment Program budget.
