The Brooksville City Council voted Nov. 3 to renew an interagency public works agreement with the Florida Department of Corrections to allow supervised inmate labor to perform authorized public works and maintenance tasks.

Public Works staff described the arrangement as providing up to five inmate workers per day under city supervision and said the program has benefited both the Public Works and Parks & Recreation departments in completing routine maintenance. With council approval the agreement will renew for an additional three‑year term.

The motion to renew the agreement passed 5–0. Staff will continue to supervise inmates on permitted tasks under the terms of the renewed agreement.
