Members of the LaSalle County Finance Committee on Nov. 4 agreed to compile and track a set of proposed budget amendments and to present them for formal amendment at a future meeting or the full-board session.
The chairman said staff had asked that the committee "zero out the grant writing in, fund 10103," a $4,000 line item the committee agreed should be tracked and amended later. Members also discussed the finance director salary and payroll accounting: Ms. Nikki said a $100,000 line had been included in the book and suggested reducing it to $75,000, noting an additional roughly $5,000 had been placed in another line for equipment such as a computer. Members discussed whether a candidate, variously named in the discussion as Dave/Davis Sweeney, had been contacted and whether the candidate had agreed to the $75,000 amount; the chairman said he planned to call the candidate after his flight.
Committee members also raised a $132,000 item related to drug court. The chairman said the source of those funds is unclear on the record and that the chief judge would need to be consulted; the committee indicated this item could remain "in limbo" until that conversation occurs. The chairman said the drug-court funds had accumulated from different sources over time and that staff would need to confirm whether the money is a grant or another type of fund before reassigning it.
Committee members agreed to record these and other changes and to schedule an additional finance meeting if needed to finalize budget adjustments before the full-board meeting.
