The DeKalb County Board of Commissioners operations committee approved a series of procurement, renewal and equipment purchases spanning Public Works, Fleet Management, Facility Management, Innovation & Technology, and Recreation and Parks.
The committee approved routine items by voice vote, including the minutes (agenda item 2025-1384) and multiple purchase and renewal requests. Approved purchases included a fueling and lube truck for the Seminole Road landfill (agenda item 2025-1217, amount not to exceed $325,821); a Massey Ferguson tractor with a 30-foot boom mower for DeKalb Peachtree Airport maintenance (2025-1267, amount not to exceed $232,880); an articulated off-road haul truck for landfill operations (2025-1499, amount not to exceed $767,200); and three International bucket trucks for Signal and Traffic Engineering to service traffic signals (2025-1462, amount not to exceed $910,833).
The committee also renewed contracts and exercised renewal options: a fuel-tank maintenance, cleaning and inspection contract with SP Petroleum Transporters through Dec. 31, 2026 (2025-1363, amount not to exceed $200,000), and a fourth renewal for maintenance and repair of overhead doors and gates countywide through Dec. 31, 2026 (2025-1461, amount not to exceed $1,455,000). Staff described these renewals as routine maintenance items to preserve county operations.
IT and law department technology purchases approved included network security hardware and professional services for the county Real Time Crime Center (agenda item 2025-1310, Palo Alto Networks, amount not to exceed $171,827.88) and three-year Relativity e-discovery software and services for the law department (2025-1387, Insight Public Sector, amount not to exceed $416,777.97). The committee ratified workstation furniture purchases for the Real Time Crime Center interior build-out (2025-1311, amount not to exceed $130,968.17).
Most items were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote with no recorded roll-call tallies in the transcript. The committee asked clarifying questions on utilization (for parking leases), replacement versus new purchase (fleet items), and warranty or maintenance cycles (bucket trucks). Staff committed to follow up with requested inventory or detail when asked (for parking assets, fuel‑site locations, and Real Time Crime Center renderings).
The committee deferred one item requiring additional operational detail: a change order to add funds and extend a contract for No Ink poll-pad systems used by voter registration and elections (agenda item 2025-1375, proposed amount not to exceed $600,000). Staff said the change order relates to preparations for the 2026 gubernatorial election; the director of Voter Registration and Elections was not present and the committee deferred the item to the next ops meeting for fuller briefing.
The committee’s approvals were procedural and described by staff as intended to maintain and complete ongoing county operations and projects.
