The board accepted a list of seven recent donations to district programs and activity accounts and approved submission of Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) Foundation Form A and Form B grant applications.
The donations reported in meeting materials included a $500 gift from Circle In of North Mankato to West High girls tennis; a $155 in‑kind metal donation from Cap Construction and Manufacturing to West High’s welding club; a $2,120 donation from the West Shield Memorial Fund (Mankato Ray Foundation) to East High’s Mental Health Club; a $15,000 grant from Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council for community education arts programming; $750 in Kwik Trip food coupons for ABE/GED programs; and school supply donations valued at $150 and $300 from two separate donors. The board approved a motion to accept those gifts by roll call.
Separately, East and West activities directors asked for a board resolution to allow the district to submit two MSHSL Foundation grant forms. Eric Dalman described Form A (funds allocated based on student eligibility for educational benefits and activity participation) and Form B (health and safety, leadership initiatives, and transportation to reduce participation barriers). The board approved the resolution by voice vote, authorizing submission of both grants.
Board members said they look forward to reporting student accomplishments tied to activities funded in part by these grants.
