Aurora Borough Council discussed a proposal to close the small parking area adjacent to the CVS on Thursdays from about 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to allow rotating food vendors to set up and serve downtown.

Council members said the arrangement, which was tried briefly, appears to draw lunchtime traffic and could complement downtown restaurants. A council member described the requested closure as “the section between the CVS parking area and Market Street,” and said it would allow people to access CVS while vendors operate nearby.

Council and staff also discussed permitting questions and whether food trucks and other vendors need transient licenses or facility-use forms. Staff advised that recent ordinance changes removed the transient-license requirement for food trucks; vendors still must complete any required facility-use paperwork. A council member asked staff to confirm the applicable permitting steps and any fee or health-department requirements.

No formal action or vote was recorded. A council member volunteered to contact downtown business owners and report back with their feedback at the November council meeting. The council did not set a start date; speakers suggested operating the market weekly through the cooler months if there is community interest.
