Superintendent Dr. Lucas opened the board's report section with a back-to-school update that included new administrative hires, major summer facilities projects and a districtwide transition to the Infinite Campus student-information system.
Dr. Lucas announced several leadership appointments: Dr. Brandy Cooper as human resources director; Dr. Sarah Huber as principal of South Elementary School; an assistant principal named Dawn (surname not provided in the transcript); and Reggie Milner as principal at WT Chipman. She thanked custodial and facilities staff for summer work that included painting, new flooring, added parking, new HVAC for a gym, new pool tile and a refinished gym floor.
The superintendent described onboarding activities for new staff — mentoring, meetings with administration and the Lake Forest Education Association, and sessions with the curriculum and assessment team — and thanked staff who supported the transition.
Dr. Lucas announced the district's transition from eSchool to Infinite Campus for student records, transportation and data tracking, noting the migration has presented challenges and asking the public for patience while staff finalize the transition. She said the move is a statewide initiative affecting many districts and that the tech team is working to make the remainder of the transition "virtually invisible." Tech staff named in the meeting included Mr. Loven, Anita Bulacek, Danielle Bruguet and Mr. Weller.
Key calendar dates relayed to the board: remainder of teacher reports start the coming Monday; full staff report dates the week before school; meet-and-greets on Aug. 27; transition day for kindergarten and grades 4, 6 and 9 on Aug. 28; no school Aug. 29 and Sept. 1 (Labor Day); and the first student day on Sept. 2.
Board members did not take further action on the superintendent's report; several trustees expressed thanks to staff for summer work and welcomed new administrators.
