Carmel-by-the-Sea officials told residents in a recorded briefing that the city will hold two council meetings next week to handle a large packet of business, including the full housing element and an agenda item on water allocation.
The update, delivered during an informal council vlog, urged residents to review the meeting materials ahead of the sessions and noted the packet for Tuesday's meeting will run roughly 287'30 pages, with the following day's materials larger because they contain the housing element. Speakers identified water allocation, an after-action report on car week from Chief Trier and the city's emergency operations plan as items of particular interest.
City officials said the dual meetings will be the third and fourth meetings in an abbreviated schedule, and they encouraged the public to attend and to read the packet in advance so council members can proceed efficiently. "We're bringing back water allocation, which again, we got good council direction last month," one speaker said, describing the item as a follow-up to prior council direction.
Speakers also flagged pickleball and other items scheduled for Tuesday's session, and reminded listeners of the date for a related public event, Carmel Prepares, on Saturday, Nov. 8. No formal votes or motions on the housing element, water allocation or the emergency operations plan were recorded in the briefing.
Officials closed by asking residents to attend a community parade the same afternoon and to come prepared for an extensive packet of materials at the upcoming meetings.
