The Baldwin Park City Council recessed into a closed session Thursday, Oct. 30, after the city clerk reported there were no requests for public comment, Mayor Avila said.

The closed-session recess came after roll call, during which Mayor Avila, Mayor Pro Tem Damien and Councilmember Ayala were recorded as present and Councilmembers Estrada and Lozano were recorded as not present. The mayor noted the time as "05:11" when opening the meeting.

"No, mayor. We have not received request for comment," City Clerk Miss Mayer said when asked whether anyone had registered to speak. Later, Mayor Avila said, "Being that there's no one here for public communications, we will now recess to closed session. Thank you." The council did not state on the record the topic or legal authority for the closed session before recessing.

No formal motions, votes or agenda deliberations were made public before the recess. The city did not announce any additional details about the closed session or a planned time to reopen the meeting.
