Library staff notified members of a new requirement from the city secretary’s office that all city board, commission and committee appointees submit an affidavit and supporting documentation confirming Laredo residency.

Angie (library staff) told the Library Advisory Committee that members received an email and a paper copy of the affidavit and that supporting documentation may be a voter registration certificate, a screenshot from the Texas “Am I Registered?” portal showing a Laredo address, a Texas driver’s license or a utility bill showing a current Laredo address. The deadline for submission is Nov. 21; staff advised members to submit the paperwork as soon as possible so the city secretary’s office can complete verification.

Committee members asked whether the signed hard copy must be delivered in person; staff said forms may be returned by email to the committee liaison or delivered in person or mailed to the city secretary’s office. Angie said she would resend the email and that the library can help make copies if needed.

No formal action was taken; the item was presented as an informational announcement and committee members were asked to follow the city secretary’s directions for submission.
