The South Salt Lake City Council on Oct. 29 adopted a resolution approving the Meadowbrook and Mill Creek Station area plan, a required station-area plan under HB 462 (2022) for municipalities that contain fixed transit stations.

Senior planner Spencer Cawley told the council the plan satisfies the state requirement to complete station-area plans for areas within a half mile of fixed transit stations and noted that the city must complete four station-area plans by the end of 2025. "If the council does pass the resolution this evening, that will ensure that we are in compliance with the state requirements of this bill," Cawley said.

Councilmember Ray DeWolf made the motion to adopt the resolution; Clarissa Williams seconded. The council conducted a roll-call vote; the clerk recorded affirmative votes and the resolution was approved.

The council heard the plan in a prior work session and discussed it briefly at the meeting before the vote. City staff said adoption enables the city to proceed with planned projects and aligns South Salt Lake with the regional downtown-connect plan recently certified by WFRC.
