The South Salt Lake City Council on Oct. 29 approved a resolution authorizing an interlocal agreement with Salt Lake County to provide a $10,000 local match for a grant-funded safety project on the Jordan River Trail at 3300 South.

City staff reported several safety concerns and reported assaults near a dark bridge where the trail meets 3300 South. Staff and county officials jointly applied for a grant to build a safer connection at the site; the grant requires a local match. A city staff member identified as Carl said the city has budgeted the $10,000 in a miscellaneous mobility fund and can transfer the funds to the county to enable project delivery.

Councilmember Leanne moved the resolution; Clarissa Williams seconded. The council approved the interlocal agreement by roll call. Staff said project timing depends on the county’s budget amendment process; the earliest construction estimate offered was spring or summer pending county actions.
