Carl Thompson, general manager of the Lerner Theatre, told the board Oct. 8 that September had been “dynamic and productive” and outlined staffing, marketing and programming plans for the busy season ahead.
Thompson said the theatre plans increased investment in marketing and promotions, including digital advertising, quarterly print inserts in utility bills, an updated digital brochure, branded merchandise, and expanded social media presence. He said staff are beginning a Ticketmaster training initiative to broaden staff capability in ticketing and promotional campaigns.
Thompson announced the hiring of Joseph Bugajski as the theatre’s new technical director following an exhaustive search, and said the hire will improve technical relationships with touring promoters and local arts organizations. He also listed recently announced and settled shows including a Nutcracker ballet, World Ballet Company’s Cinderella, a holiday concert featuring Peabo Bryson and Sheena Easton, comedian Rodney Carrington, and past September presentations including Felipe Esparza and Steven Curtis Chapman.
The board thanked Thompson; there was no formal vote required for the report.
