Subcommittee leads gave brief reports at the Citizens Advisory Board meeting on Oct. 20 about human services outreach, neighborhood engagement and arts programming.

Corine Anderson Ketchmark, chair of the human services subcommittee, said the group is drafting a work plan and will meet Nov. 12. The subcommittee plans to recommend that council review certain regional service providers and noted a request to examine a local program (SKIP/South King regional partner) for possible referral to council.

An outreach subcommittee reported plans to pilot survey distribution and pop‑up outreach at Wesley, Judson Park and Adriana senior communities, with volunteers testing one site before expanding to others. Committee members said they will coordinate with onsite administrators and the CAB’s volunteer strategic‑plan effort.

Arts Commission members presented several items. The commission’s summer concert series lineup under discussion includes Spike and the Impalers, Kitty May (country/roots), Nightwaves, Abigraf, Stevie and the Blue Flames, and Power of Love (a Huey Lewis tribute). Squidorama is scheduled for Nov. 29 at the Beachfront Auditorium; the Arts Commission will provide three prizes for the event run by Highline College and the Marine and Technology Center.

Charlene Picasso and other Arts volunteers reported that they cleared and cleaned the 'American Venus' sculpture and plan to reinstall it at the south end of the boardwalk; the Art Commission will fund a new plinth. The commission also reviewed the public‑art inventory and found most pieces in good condition, with two previously listed Redondo pieces no longer in place.

Committee chairs asked CAB members to help with targeted outreach and to let staff know if they can support pop‑ups, volunteer shifts and arts events.
