The Parks Director told the committee that Bay Beach Amusement Park has closed for the season and that staff are waiting on parts to repair a few rides before winter dismantling.
"We just had our very last weekend at Bay Beach Amusement Park, so we are now closed for the season," the Parks Director said. The director added that parts are arriving slowly and the goal is to make rides operational before they are dismantled for winter, to avoid spring start-up delays.
On the new train at Bay Beach, the Parks Director said the train "is officially completed" and that staff ran it for one weekend to work out operational kinks. The director said a grand-opening dedication ceremony is planned for the park's next operating season in May and that staffing constraints late in the season prevented more weekend operation this year.
The director also announced Ottertoberfest at the Wildlife Sanctuary on Oct. 18 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., described it as an all-afternoon family event with bands and food trucks, and noted a new crew of Conservation Corps members started work a week or two earlier.
Committee members moved to receive and place the director's report on file; the motion carried by voice vote.
