The City of Lake City continued a code-enforcement hearing concerning a damaged sign at Pet Spot of Lake City, giving the parties time to re-notice the matter under the city’s sign ordinance rather than the maintenance code cited by staff.
City staff said a damaged sign at 872 Southwest Main Boulevard was observed May 16, 2025, and notices and hearings were served. The city initially cited a maintenance code provision (IPMC 102.2). Magistrate Stephanie Marchman and city staff discussed whether the correct citation should be the city’s sign code (Chapter 78). Marchman said the sign code had not been properly noticed and that the matter should be continued so the correct provision could be cited.
Dewey Holloway, who said he and his mother own Pet Spot of Lake City, told the magistrate the sign company had prepared a replacement and was finishing one damaged panel; he said installation should be completed “within the next 2 weeks.” Marchman said that if Holloway completes the repairs he would not have to return to the magistrate and asked Holloway to call the office when the work is finished.
The magistrate continued the case to allow proper notice under the sign code; no compliance order was entered at the hearing.
