San Patricio County Commissioners on Sept. 29 approved several grant-related construction items and procurement steps presented by grant manager Melanie Cooper.
The court approved a plumbing change order for the bridal shelter (RFP 2024-015) increasing the contract by $6,650 to add plumbing for an additional septic interceptor; the item will be part of a sequence of change orders to complete the system. The court also approved a change to RFP 2024-016 to add a stove and related electrical work for a juvenile services building, increasing the contract price by $33,340; county staff said the price covers the appliance and the required electrical upgrades, including an exhaust hood.
Commissioners approved change order number 2 to increase an electrical panel contract by $14,845.98 (funded by Harvey mitigation funds) to support a generator and power the expanded juvenile building. Separately, the court accepted substantial completion and authorized one-year warranties for two generator projects completed by CRI Electric: an EOC generator (release retainage $12,230.10) and a juvenile detention generator (release retainage $9,499.50).
The court authorized the county auditor’s office to issue an RFP for D239 construction tied to Harvey mitigation competition funds for Taft and Sinton and approved applying for Port of Corpus Christi community-funding to buy pumps and fire-response equipment for Precinct 3 and a community tire shredder.
Cooper also presented a recommended final closeout action for CDBG contract number 20-065-078-C221, asking the court to commit $143,153.33 in local funds as previously paid mobilization and match costs so the grant may be closed out with the Texas General Land Office. The court approved the closeout transfer and other grant management items, and the grant-management plan for 2025–2027 was accepted.
All motions passed on voice votes; commissioners emphasized timelines tied to grant requirements and engineer review of electrical changes and equipment inclusions.
