Commission members heard an update that the fiberglass heart sculptures for the town-wide display have been fabricated and are awaiting final payment before delivery. Kiera (introduced during the meeting to lead the update) said the forms are complete and that staff will mail the final payment the next day so shipments can proceed.

Kiera said the sculptures are being held at public works after delivery and will be covered with tarps; staff and commission members expressed concern that outdoor storage could require cleaning before artists can paint. “They’re done. They’re just waiting for final payment,” Kiera said.

Staff described an organized pickup process for artists: once selected, artists will be required to pick up sculptures Monday through Friday during public-works hours while staff is present. Commission members discussed obtaining weight and measurement specifications from the fabricator before finalizing bases and placement to avoid late conflicts with town engineering and placement rules. One staff member emphasized the need to have all measurements and placement details documented in writing to avoid last-minute rejections by town staff.

The group also discussed hiring a local delivery vendor to move sculptures from public works to a central pick-up location. Staff said a single-day delivery by a local contractor would be inexpensive and would reduce scheduling burdens on public works. The commission agreed staff should obtain quotes for delivery and confirm ship dates so someone can meet the shipment at delivery.

No formal votes were recorded. Staff were directed to request weight and measurement data from the fabricator, arrange final payment to release the sculptures to ship, and obtain delivery quotes for consolidated transport.
