The Lago Vista Building Standards Commission reviewed a draft ordinance, provided by the city council, that would add language clarifying the commission’s duties and the chapters of city code the commission should review before council consideration.
Commissioners discussed whether the proposed draft should list the specific chapters the commission reviews or rely on a general sentence that would cover all future items within the commission’s remit. One commissioner said a single, concise sentence would “cover everything that the building standard has now or will ever have under their jurisdiction,” while others preferred the more explicit list. Members also flagged minor typos and phrasing changes (for example, replacing “has unanimously recommended” with “unanimously recommends” or “recommends”).
After discussion, a commissioner moved that the commission take the proposed revisions, incorporate agreed corrections, and table the item to the next meeting so the final language can be reviewed. The motion passed unanimously.

Staff will incorporate the requested wording changes and return a revised ordinance draft at the commission’s next meeting; if approved, the commission may forward the language to city council.
