Miami-Dade County held a service award ceremony Oct. 1, 2025, recognizing county employees who reached milestone anniversaries of 30, 35 and 40 years of service. Speakers at the ceremony noted recipients' programmatic contributions, community service and personal dedication rather than policy actions.

Department leaders and colleagues gave brief remarks highlighting years of service and specific contributions: Lakisha Brown, chief of safety risk management and employee development, credited Jennifer Roden with leading an asbestos supervisor awareness program and other initiatives; colleagues praised Lourdes Bettencourt for procurement expertise and mentorship; Aviation staff noted recipients' roles keeping airport operations running, including maintenance of passenger loading bridges and terminal climate systems; Corrections leaders described recipients' long tenures, training roles and operational responsibilities such as intake and transportation.
