The Metropolitan Development Commission on Oct. 1 approved a waiver and amendment to the real property tax abatement terms for Indie Fresh Market Enterprises LLC, a project located at 6190 East 30th Street in Lawrence Township (Council District 9).
Leticia Ramsey, compliance manager with DMD, told the commission the developer missed the 2024 deduction application filing deadline. The amendment will designate Goodwill as the employer for two positions located at the tax-abatement site; DMD staff recommended the waiver and amendment.
Commissioners expressed support for the project, with one commissioner calling it “a critical project for that food desert” and urging assistance to make it successful. The resolution for the public hearing (2025 A-038) was moved and seconded; the roll call recorded unanimous approval (yes votes by Garber; Herget; Lyle; Moriarty; Murphy; Robinson; Schumacher; West; and Dillon), recorded in the transcript as 9–0.
The commission’s action grants the requested procedural waiver and approves the amendment as presented. The transcript does not record additional implementation steps beyond staff’s recommendation and the commission’s approval.
