Chelsea, a town staff member, asked the commission to approve a standard-form contract with Reith Riley for work on the Main Street project and to allow execution pending review by the town attorney.
"I would ask for a motion to approve the contract pending legal review," Chelsea said. She told commissioners Reith Riley is preparing documentation for the town and the consultant and that a high-level schedule is in development; the firm hoped to submit a schedule to the town by the end of the week of the 13th.
Commissioner Brian Cope (motion recorded in the transcript as Brian Cope) moved to accept the contract with Reith Riley pending legal review; a second was recorded and the commission voted to approve the motion. Staff said they will work with Reith Riley and the town attorney to finalize insurance and contract language before full execution.
Chelsea also asked the commission for input on public meeting timing and venue for engagement on the Main Street plan set. Commissioners discussed avoiding Halloween week and expressed a preference for an evening meeting. Chelsea said she had discussed a potential venue with BrewLink, which may host the meeting in a back room, and staff suggested looking at the week of Nov. 10 or holding the public meeting in November. Chelsea said the meeting schedule and public notice will be released once finalized.
The commission’s approval was explicitly contingent on final legal review; commissioners recorded the motion and voted in favor at the meeting.
