Commission members recognized performers and volunteers who supported the fourth annual multicultural festival, presenting certificates of appreciation to groups and individuals who helped stage the event.

A commission member reported that the festival “went well” and thanked staff, volunteers and the community for participation. Performers named during the recognition included community dance and music groups; organizers asked participants to gather for photographs after the meeting. Commissioners and staff discussed scheduling challenges — one resident noted the festival coincided with a citywide garage sale and suggested avoiding such conflicts to increase turnout next year.

The commission thanked volunteers and discussed continuing to build the festival for next year, including clearer coordination of dates to avoid competing events. Staff said they will take the scheduling concern into account when planning the next festival and will work on public outreach earlier in the season.
