The Cody City Council approved a request from a vendor to use a small portion of city property on the Cody Chamber of Commerce grounds to offer padded bleacher-seat rentals at spectator events.
Whitney Batista, who identified herself as owner of Leisure Bliss seat rentals, told the council she and her husband plan to provide padded seats for spectators at sporting events and other gatherings, and requested a 10-by-10 space. She said the business would be mobile, set up a 10-by-10 tent and tables for each event, and remove equipment at the end of events. “We are very adamant about leaving things better than we found them,” Batista said.
Batista said she had contacted the local school district and that current school policy did not permit vendor operations on school grounds, which is why the request is to use Chamber property. She said she would primarily aim to serve football games initially, and that she would only need one parking spot for a personal vehicle.
Cindy Baker (staff) explained that the city has previously authorized vendors at public events and that the council has authority to permit vendors on city property. Council Member Setonary moved to approve the request; Council Member Lang seconded the motion. The council voted “Aye”; the mayor announced the motion carried.
No special conditions or fee changes were recorded on the record. The vendor said she would coordinate location and timing with event schedules and requested flexibility to position based on the event type.
