County officials updated the commission and the public on plans to transition animal‑shelter management from the Fayette County Humane Society to the Fayette County Animal Shelter, with the new management expected to be in place by Oct. 18.
County staff said policies are being finalized, supplies and equipment will be inventoried, and the county is prepared to provide start‑up supplies as needed. County administrators asked residents who want to volunteer or donate to contact the courthouse and the county administration office for instructions and volunteer coordination.
