The Vienna Common Council unanimously approved on first reading an ordinance authorizing the sale of surplus city vehicles and equipment through an online auction account previously used by the city.

A city staff member summarized the list of items (the transcript refers to “a lot” of vehicles and equipment) and said the finance director was authorized to issue the required public notices under state law and municipal ordinance. The ordinance cites Vienna municipal code 1075C in the introductory language.

Council moved and seconded the ordinance on first reading and approved it without recorded opposition. Staff said publication and standard purchasing procedures will follow state code requirements for disposal of municipal property.
