County appraisal staff said they contacted Smentana by telephone to explain improvements and that the property sold in 2021 for about $300,000. The assessor said current market trends drive values upward and that the county’s assessed value remained below the 2021 sale price; the office will hold the assessed value at $244,300 for Jan. 1, 2025.

The assessor told the board the 2021 purchase price did not include personal property. Board members had no questions and the hearing concluded with the county’s testimony on the record. The transcript does not show a formal board vote to change the assessment.
