Library staff told the council the library parking lot will be resurfaced on Oct. 12–13 and outlined several upcoming programs, including a mayor reading club and a tree-lighting event on the 22nd. Staff also reported community outreach at a recent college and career expo where many Walnut Grove students participated.
The library director said the resurfacing was scheduled to avoid weekend conflicts and noted the library will close briefly for the work. She described a successful recent fundraising event and confirmed donated food was delivered to the fire department. The library will replace its Manga Madness event with a trivia night and will close early on Nov. 8 for a regional staff appreciation event.
On governance, the council tabled consideration of two library trustee nominees, Dominic De Grotto and Donnie Tuber, after a council member said she had requested materials that were not yet provided. The council voted to delay action until the information is available.
Library staff also described outreach successes: a college and career expo with a strong Walnut Grove student turnout and staff-led youth engagement plans. The director said a staff member will assist the tree-lighting event and the library will shift hours on that day to support community participation.
The council did not take further action on library appointments at the meeting; the item will return to a future agenda once requested information is supplied.
