The Park and Recreation Committee reported a tentative start date of Oct. 20 to resurface and restripe court No. 1 to create four dedicated pickleball courts and to reconfigure the reservation system. Staff said the contractor expected the work to take about five days, and Michael Jessup has closed the affected courts in advance of the work.

The project will resurface court No. 1, restripe lines for four pickleball courts and one tennis court, and install four new matching pickleball nets to replace worn frames currently in use. Committee members discussed that two of the new nets were already placed temporarily because existing nets were failing.

Staff noted the town’s reservation software will need to be updated so each of the four courts can be reserved individually; the committee did not record a formal direction but flagged that the reservation system needs configuration and possibly additional rows/columns in the schedule. No construction contract award was recorded at the committee level; the schedule cited by staff is tentative and subject to contractor availability.
