At a staff agenda review on Monday, Oct. 6, 2025, Tamarac city staff said the City Commission will consider an ordinance to update the city's development impact fees, proposing a 25% increase for government facilities, parks and recreation facilities, and multimodal transportation fees.
The update is prompted by a state law requirement that a city’s impact-fee study be no older than four years. Deputy City Manager Callaway said House Bill 4 4 79, adopted in 2024, prevents cities from assessing development impact fees based on studies older than four years; Tamarac’s impact-fee study was adopted in 2019 and therefore required an update. "We're proposing that the fees be 25% more than the current fees, and this is for the government facilities, parks and recreation facilities, and multimodal transportation fees," Deputy City Manager Callaway said.
Consultant Carson Bice of Titler Bice is scheduled to deliver a full presentation to the commission at the upcoming Wednesday meeting, staff said. The staff agenda review recorded no public comments on the item. The review noted one additional agenda item (Section 11) for the commission meeting: a discussion and possible direction on establishing a homeowners-association resiliency and infrastructure grant; that item was not discussed at length during the staff review.
No formal vote or directive on the ordinance occurred at the staff agenda review; staff indicated the commission will receive the consultant’s presentation and consider the ordinance at the commission meeting on Wednesday.
