Facilities staff presented progress reports on a slate of capital projects during the Property Facilities Committee meeting.
Josh, a facilities staff member, reported that the high school natatorium roofing is about 75% complete. He said Mun Roofing has been on site, crews addressed several conditions behind a wall, and staff expects the roof to be weathertight. Josh projected a finish date “by, say, October 10,” describing that as about a week to 10 days from the meeting date.
On the North Transportation Facility, Josh said the district hired an architect because the project exceeded the scope of engineering work; he estimated the design was about 50% complete and staff was preparing for bidding.
The South Field House heating project was nearly complete, Josh said, with Scranton Electric finishing a final valve installation; a flow switch remained to be installed by Daryl’s crew and staff hoped it would be received and installed by the end of the week.
Daryl reported the Bushgill boiler replacement was slightly ahead of schedule and scheduled for final inspection and boiler firing on Oct. 9. Daryl confirmed the district-owned propane tank had been set.
Brian, technology staff, said the boardroom audio-visual upgrade is scheduled to start in November with an anticipated December completion. Brian also said the JTL TV studio renovation has been delayed pending stamped drawings needed for permits; Josh said he would check permit status when offices reopened.
Committee members raised building-specific concerns. One member asked that staff consider budgeting to replace deteriorating lockers at JTL in a future capital plan; staff noted many lockers are more than 25 years old and parts may be obsolete. Members also confirmed completed work at North Campus, including auditorium light upgrades, stormwater Phase 3 and generator training.
Multiple capital applications and invoices tied to these projects were presented later on the agenda and subsequently approved by the committee.
