Dalton (Recreation staff/presenter) gave a fiscal-year 2025 recap to the Missouri City Parks & Recreation Advisory Board, reporting increases in programs and participation, modest revenue growth and several operational improvements and grants.
Dalton told the board the department offered 22% more programs in FY25 than in FY24 and recorded a 35% increase in program participants. The staff summary showed 1,946 programs in 2024 and 2,376 in 2025 and 3,026 recreational opportunities offered (up from the 3,000-target). Revenue edged up about 4% year over year, and facility membership and day-pass use rose about 7%.
Dalton said facility entry counting now uses camera-based tracking at the recreation and community centers. He said the department met or exceeded several service goals — including the target that 90% of programs meet minimum registration thresholds — and that 84% of programs collected formal feedback meeting the stated goal of surveying at least 75% of programs.
Staff noted items still in progress: a holiday/event decor plan that did not meet the year’s objective due to procurement and supply-chain delays, and continued work to complete planned power washing of courts. Dalton told the board the department secured a $9,700 USDA grant for tennis-fence reconstruction and described a plan to reconfigure interior fencing to create viewing and staging space for tournaments.
Other operational notes included the department’s recertification as an autism-certified recreation provider in June 2025 and a power-washing schedule for tennis courts with pickleball courts to follow. Dalton said staff have conducted facility tours, attended regional professional conferences and are using the findings to develop new programs. He credited staff for restarting branded apparel sales and for grant activity and professional development.
Sarah (Parks and Recreation director) provided a director’s report noting staff vacancies and active hiring. She told the board the department extended an offer for an office manager (start date projected Oct. 20) and said interviews for recreation specialist and recreation manager positions were underway. Sarah also described an all-staff training day, a department “SWOT” review and community-facing events such as an upcoming Hocus Pocus family event on Oct. 10 at Community Park.
Board members asked about power washing for pickleball courts; Dalton said courts 7 and 8 are scheduled next and staff are seeking competitive quotes to finish remaining courts either this year or next year.
The presentation was informational; no formal action was taken.
