Details and procedural notes
- Staff recommended approval for the majority of items; in several cases staff noted compatibility with the Tall City Tomorrow comprehensive plan. For the item changing 1110 Austin Street to regional retail, staff recorded one written objection (about traffic) and reported a 0.7% objection rate; accordingly, the item did not require a supermajority vote. The commission nevertheless approved the request by the recorded tally of 6–2–1.
- Public comment: For most items no public speakers registered to speak during the hearing and staff or the applicant deferred to staff presentation where noted. Where applicants were present and deferred to staff, the commission proceeded to close the public hearing and vote.
- Next steps: Zone-change ordinances and plats approved by the commission will be forwarded to Midland City Council for final action where required; specific effective dates for ordinances will be determined by council action.
