Mikayla Becker, the district’s student representative, told the board about recent and upcoming student activities across the district.
Becker said the high school held a “No Hate” assembly featuring BMX riders who discussed bullying and mental health. “It was a really fun assembly that no one was expecting,” Becker said, adding that students appeared engaged.
She described a middle-school reality maze organized by the Stoughton Wellness Coalition, a new STEM-like class at the middle school, and a community garden project at Keeganza run by volunteers, teachers and students. Becker also summarized Homecoming plans: a parade at 4:15 p.m., a tailgate immediately after the parade and a 7 p.m. football game, with the opponent listed as Sauk Prairie.
On athletics, Becker noted that Meadows Sawicki advanced to girls-golf sectionals, Elijah Judd placed sixth and set a school record in a 5K at a Midwest invitational, boys soccer beat Whitewater on Sept. 27 and girls tennis placed ninth in the Badger Conference tournament. She also listed arts events including a marching-band field show and an upcoming fall choir concert at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 13 in the PAC.
