Baldwin County commissioners used their comment period to thank staff and volunteers for recent events, congratulate employee award recipients, and say they will recognize the sheriff's deputies involved in a recent Orange Beach rescue at an upcoming meeting in Bay Minette.

Several commissioners praised turnout at a county Old Time Day event and thanked staff members who helped organize county business. One commissioner said, “I got there around 08:30, and to see all those people show up is just amazing,” and thanked employees and volunteers for their work.

A commissioner who referenced the recent Orange Beach rescue said the effort involved outside agencies and indicated a plan to honor those involved. “And, I would assume that, a meeting that, when I'm chairman, we will be recognizing that, department and all involved in bringing that girl back home because it was an effort outside sources,” the commissioner said, and asked that recognition be scheduled for a November meeting in Bay Minette.

Commissioners also thanked staff members by name in public remarks; one commissioner thanked “Felicia and Jerry Carl” for their assistance.
