USBE staff used the Oct. 3 finance committee meeting to recognize recent progress on two technology and grants systems important to district operations: USIMS (Utah Integrated Management System) and Utah Grants.
USIMS progress
Katrina (USBE finance/data staff) told the committee the USIMS educator domain is nearing an Oct. 14 milestone for publishing new educator-related capabilities. Those capabilities include assignment and employment information, an educator profile and reporting features intended to centralize educator employment and assignment records for LEAs. USBE plans training for LEAs after the milestone.
Utah Grants improvements
Staff reported continued development and user feedback work on Utah Grants, the state’s grants-management system. USBE said the tool has delivered measurable improvements in funds management and transparency and that Rebecca’s team has implemented multiple recommendations from a stakeholder reporting and transparency group. Staff said other states have looked to Utah Grants as a model and that USBE continues iterative improvements based on LEA feedback.
Recognition and next steps
Deputy Superintendent Jones and other committee members publicly thanked IT, data and grants staff for their work supporting LEAs through system changes and deadlines. Staff said they will continue training, outreach and incremental system fixes to support district reporting and grant management.
