The Sandpoint Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Committee recorded several formal actions at its Oct. 9 meeting.
Elections and appointments
- Chair: Kate Houston was nominated and elected chair for the coming term. The committee registered the nomination and a voice vote; the chair will continue to preside over committee meetings.
- Vice chair: Erin Billings was nominated and elected vice chair; members noted the vice chair would preside when the chair is absent.
- Downtown revitalization advisory committee representative: Bradley Peterson was nominated and appointed as the committee’s representative to the Downtown Revitalization Phase 3 advisory group. Staff said the advisory group will meet about five times during the design phase and the appointee is expected to report back to this committee.
Project advisory motions
- O'Connell Estates preliminary subdivision: The committee voted to concur with subcommittee recommendations requesting a 10–12 foot paved multiuse path from the cul‑de‑sac toward Samuelson, sidewalks on Woodland Drive (with specified curb ramp treatment), RRFB(s) at key crossings, and bike lane considerations. Reed Weber announced an abstention on this item; the rest of the committee voted in favor. Staff will forward the comments as part of the project record.
- Fourth Avenue sidewalk project: The committee voted to forward advisory comments asking for paired curb ramps where feasible, an assessment of lighting at the Superior/Fourth intersection (including tree trimming or light relocation), evaluation of stop vs. yield control at Superior, and confirmation of the proposed connection to the Third Avenue Pier; staff will coordinate with public works and utilities on feasibility and cost and report back.
Other procedural actions
- The committee moved and approved carrying a downtown bike‑parking discussion to the next meeting so members can review a mapped presentation in advance.
Votes were recorded by voice; where roll‑call detail was not stated in the record the minutes will contain the committee’s formal vote tallies and notes for the municipal record.
