The committee received status updates Oct. 8 on several historic-program efforts: the oral history project, the graveyard tour and a proposed tricentennial house tour.
Oral-history project: Committee members said the recording studio used for oral histories is temporarily down for technical repairs; they are awaiting the studio lead’s notice that equipment is back online. When technicians return the studio to service, the committee plans to resume scheduled interviews and post edited videos to YouTube for public viewing. Committee members discussed producing curated “movie night” showings and library events to surface the oral histories.
Graveyard tour: Organizers said volunteer interest had waned since earlier efforts. A new volunteer who identified as a historian approached the committee at the ice cream social and will meet with organizers to reinvigorate the tour planning. Committee members acknowledged the need to regroup and will reach out to local historians and potential partners.
Tricentennial house tour: A working group recommended branding a “Tricentennial House Tour,” focusing on 10–12 homes with garden highlights where appropriate. The group proposed Saturday, Sept. 18, 2027, 12–3 p.m., as the event date and plans to use a start-point booklet system with staggered starting locations to manage traffic. The house-tour subgroup plans to produce a homeowner agreement (release and hold-harmless language) similar to one used in a prior 2019 tour; that document will be submitted to town counsel for review once the draft is finalized.
No formal votes were required for these updates; working groups will report back with drafts, schedules and homeowner agreements for committee review.
