LaSalle County's Committee on Appointments, Legislation and Rules met Oct. 9 at 12:01 p.m. and voted to forward the appointment of Abby Craft as acting supervisor of assessment to the full board and to enter executive session under 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1) to consider the reappointment of the county human resources director.
Chairman Jensen introduced the personnel items, saying, "Discussion and appointment of acting supervisor of assessment. What we're looking at is, appointing Abby Craft as acting supervisor of assessment until such time as, yeah, for 60 days. Sorry." The committee then moved to forward the appointment to the full board for consideration.
Gary Small noted the 60-day timeframe, saying, "Has her initial 60 days already that will be up soon then. So we're just extending the 60 days." The committee recorded a motion to forward the appointment; the motion was moved and seconded and carried.
The committee also approved a motion to go into executive session under 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1), the Illinois Open Meetings Act provision covering "appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees," to discuss the human resources director reappointment. Committee members voting in favor signified their support by saying "aye," and the motion carried.
Earlier in the meeting the committee approved remote attendance by resolution (Resolution 23-53) and voted to dispense with the previous meeting's minutes. Those procedural items were approved by voice vote.
The appointment of Abby Craft was forwarded to the full LaSalle County Board for final action. The executive session authorized under 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1) will take place as permitted by law; no substantive personnel decisions were taken in open session during this meeting.
