The Michigan House of Representatives convened briefly but adjourned after officials confirmed a quorum was not present, the clerk said.
The clerk announced, “A quorum of the House is not present,” and read notices including a scheduled meeting of the House Oversight Subcommittee on Child Welfare System. The clerk said the subcommittee would meet Tuesday, Oct. 14, at 10:30 a.m. in Room 308 of the House Office Building.
With no further business and the lack of a quorum, the clerk declared that the House "will stand adjourned until Tuesday, 10/14/2025 at 01:30PM." Because a formal quorum was not established, no legislative business, votes, or committee actions were taken during the brief session.
The announcements and adjournment were recorded as the session's only substantive items. The subcommittee meeting notice and the adjournment set the next dates for both oversight activity on child welfare and the full House to reconvene.
