LaSalle County's loss-prevention and safety committee reported activities including an employee luncheon, scheduled voluntary CPR classes, planned fire drills and a monthly safety-training calendar. The committee also said there were no workers' compensation incidents reported in September and that the county is at 14 claims for the year.
Laura, presenting the loss-prevention report, said the committee hosted an employee luncheon that served more than 200 county employees at the emergency management location. For new business, she announced that Fred will host CPR classes "on the 20 eighth and 20 ninth of this month," describing three classes with room for up to three participants each and noting the classes are voluntary and intended to provide certification to county employees. Laura said the committee is soliciting training topic ideas tailored to specific departments and plans monthly training topics in advance to allow for research and planning.
Laura also gave the safety summary for departments: there were no reported workers' compensation incidents in September and the county has 14 claims so far this year, a lower total than at the same point last year. The committee plans fire-prevention training during October and scheduled building fire drills. One staff member asked whether older water fountains could be retrofitted to accept water bottles; that question was to be followed up with facility staff.
The safety committee said its next meeting will be on Wednesday, Nov. 12.
