Skagit County Public Works opened sealed bids for the county's transfer station tire collection services project and received one timely response from Liberty Tire Recycling, which quoted $472 per ton, Solid Waste Division Manager Margo Gillespie said.
The bid opening took place during a public session of the Skagit County Board of Commissioners. Gillespie said the submission from Liberty Tire Recycling, of 14053 Pioneer Way East, Puyallup, Washington 98372, included required documents such as Exhibit B, a bid bond and a list of tires the vendor will not accept. "The quote per price per ton is $472 per ton," Gillespie said.
Gillespie said the county will review the proposal for accuracy to determine the lowest responsive and responsible bidder and that Skagit County Public Works will present a future recommendation to the Skagit County Board of Commissioners for possible award. No award was made at the bid opening.
The opening recorded a single bid; Gillespie noted that was the only bid received by the stated deadline. Russell Thompson accompanied Gillespie at the bid opening and assisted in the process, Gillespie said.
Next steps are an administrative review by Skagit County Public Works to confirm responsiveness and bidder responsibility and a subsequent recommendation to the Board; a schedule for that recommendation was not specified in the bid-opening remarks.
