The San Antonio Committee on Economic and Workforce Development approved an interlocal agreement on the consent agenda with Alamo Colleges to expand OSHA certification opportunities for high-school students.
Councilmembers said the credential could connect high-school students to construction, energy and manufacturing careers. Councilmember Castillo called the program “a good opportunity for young people,” and urged staff to coordinate with high schools across district lines so students in multiple council districts can participate.
City staff did not provide participant counts at the meeting; Councilmember Castillo asked how many local participants have completed the training and was told staff would follow up with that information.
The motion to approve the interlocal agreement passed on the consent agenda with no opposition recorded in the transcript.
The committee then moved on to other agenda items.
