The State Building Commission executive subcommittee on Oct. 20 approved designer selections for four capital projects, including university renovations, a state-park facility and a new joint forces headquarters, Secretary Hargett said.
Secretary Hargett said selections follow recommendations from state procurement staff and take into account work capacity and geographic preference. The selected firms and projects are: Gilbert McLaughlin Casella Architects for Milton C State University renovations to Beasley Hall; Shaw and Shanks Architects PC for East Tennessee State University Buck Ridge exterior structural repairs; Smith G Studio LLC for Dry Branch State Park contact station and maintenance facility; and TM Partners PLLC for the Nashua Joint Forces Headquarters new emergency operations center and administrative building.
The motion to approve the four designer selections was moved and seconded and passed by voice vote. The agenda materials stated the committee aims to match project scope with firm capacity and regional considerations when making recommendations.
No additional questions were raised on the selections during the meeting. The subcommittee also acknowledged earlier report items and other routine actions in the meeting record.
